Frequently Asked Questions about Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a very calm and relaxed state of mind which allows the subconscious mind to be susceptible to learn new information very effectively. It is similar to the state just before falling asleep.

Is Hypnosis safe?

Hypnosis is completely safe and a person being hypnotised is fully in control of what they say or do. When under Hypnosis you are still aware of your surroundings and can talk and move around whenever you wish.

What if I don’t wake up?

Even people in a deep state of Hypnosis will open their eyes at the end of a session when the Hypnotherapist instructs them to do so. This is because the subconscious mind is listening to the Hypnotherapist even if the conscious mind has not.

What if I can’t be Hypnotised?

Everyone who wants to be Hypnotised can be Hypnotised. All you need to do is relax; it’s as simple as that

Will the Hypnotherapist be able to get me to do things I don’t want to do?

In a word: No. You will not do anything against your will or morals, or divulge any secrets when under Hypnosis. Stage Hypnosis is responsible for some misconceptions about the profession, but you must bear in mind that stage Hypnotism is purely for entertainment value. Hypnotherapy is a clinical therapeutic model and members of the Nations Council for Hypnotherapy adhere to a strict code of Ethics at all time.

How much does it cost?

Each hour long session costs £60.00 and Smoking Cessation costs £120 for the whole treatment, which lasts under 2 hours. Paying for the Weight Control course in advance entitles you to a 20% discount!

What other issues can be treated?

Skin problems such as psoriasis and eczema, eating disorders, public speaking and self confidence, relationship problems, childbirth issues, depression and blushing can be effectively treated with Hypnotherapy.

What are your professional qualifications?

I hold a 2:1 degree in Psychology and have completed Clinical Practitioner training under Paul White, who is now the Chair of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), and Paul Howard, who is also a Director of the NCH. I attained Honours in my Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma, and also hold the Neurolinguistic Programming Practitioner certificate and the Hypnotherapy certificate.
