Frequently Asked Questions about Hypnotherapy
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a very calm and relaxed state of mind which allows the subconscious mind to be receptive to new information or changing unwanted beliefs or behaviours . It is similar to the state just before falling asleep, or if you nod off slightly while watching TV.
Is Hypnosis safe?
Hypnosis is completely safe and a person being hypnotised is fully in control of what they say or do. When under hypnosis you are still aware of your surroundings and can talk and move around whenever you wish.
What if I don’t wake up?
Even people in a deep state of hypnosis will open their eyes at the end of a session when the hypnotherapist instructs them to do so. This is because the subconscious mind is listening to the hypnotherapist even if the conscious mind is not.
What if I can’t be Hypnotised?
Everyone who wants to be hypnotised can be hypnotised. All you need to do is relax; it’s as simple as that! I don’t believe its a ‘trance’ as such. If you can relax and listen, then you can do it!
Will the Hypnotherapist be able to get me to do things I don’t want to do?
In a word: No.
You will not do anything against your will or morals, or divulge any secrets when under hypnosis. Stage hypnosis is responsible for some misconceptions about the profession, but you must bear in mind that stage hypnotism is purely for entertainment value. Hypnotherapy is a clinical therapeutic model and members of the Nations Council for Hypnotherapy adhere to a strict Code of Ethics at all times.
How much does it cost?
Each hour long session costs £70.00 and Smoking Cessation costs £150.00 for the whole treatment, which lasts just under 2 hours.
Booking a course of 6 Coaching or Weight Control sessions entitles you to a £50 discount. That’s £370 rather than £420. Payment is due in full at the first session to qualify for the discount.
Where are you based?
I’m based in Purley, between Croydon and Junction 6 of the M25. I do offer house visits under special circumstances.
